About Me

My career has consisted of teaching 6th, 7th and 8th grade science, 2 years teaching math, and helping to provide professional development for various groups such as the California Science Project and K-12 Alliance/West Ed. I've been a department chair for 12 of my 23 years, a reviewer for our current 6-8 science textbooks. I was a judge for Disney's California "Environmentality" and national "Disney's Planet Challenge" projects. For many years, I coached a Science Olympiad team, taking them to 2 National competitions, finishing 4th in the nation in my last year as a Coach. I have retired from the Olympiad to change my focus to work on state level educational matters such as the Next Generation Science Standards.
